Data Insights
Data Insights let you create interactive charts and visualizations from your database tables. Transform raw data into beautiful, easy-to-understand charts that help you make better decisions.
What Are Insights?
Insights are chart views that visualize your data in different ways:
- Line Charts - Track trends over time
- Bar Charts - Compare values across categories
- Pie Charts - Show proportions and distributions
- Area Charts - Display cumulative totals
- And more - Various chart types to suit your needs
Each insight view includes:
- Interactive charts you can filter and explore
- Key metrics and statistics
- Automatic date range handling
- Export capabilities
Creating Insights
From Recommended Insights
When you connect your database, our AI identifies tables that would benefit from insights. You'll see these as Recommended Insight Views on the Insights page.
To create a recommended insight:
- Go to the Insights page in your workspace
- Scroll to the Recommended Insight Views section
- Click "Generate Insight View" on any recommended insight
- Confirm the action (this uses credits from your account)
- Wait for the insight to be generated (usually takes a few seconds)
Creating Custom Insights
You can create custom insights by describing what you want to visualize:
- Go to the Insights page
- Click "New" button
- Enter a prompt describing the insight you want, for example:
- "Show sales trends for orders over the last 6 months"
- "Compare revenue by product category"
- "Display user signups by month"
- You can mention specific tables using
@symbol (e.g.,@orders) - Press Enter or click Send
- The insight will be generated automatically
Example Prompts
Here are some good examples of insight prompts:
- "Show monthly revenue trends"
- "Compare product sales by category"
- "Display user growth over time"
- "Show order status distribution"
- "Visualize top 10 customers by revenue"
Viewing Insights
Once created, insights appear as cards on the Insights page. Each card shows:
- Title - The name of the insight
- Description - What the insight shows
- Table - Which table the data comes from
- Last Updated - When it was last modified
Click any insight card to open it and explore the data.
